Here's my version for a 25L wash.

5kg sugar
80grams bakers yeast
1/4 tea spoon citric acid
200 grams leggo's tomato paste.

Mix sugar, tomato paste, citric acid and 10 liters hot water into your fermenter to disolve all the sugar.

Top up with cool water and hopefully you've got it at about 30c

Pitch yeast.
This wash will clear on it's own to a pale pink colour, there is no need to for any sort of filtering.
therefore, there is no home brew shop additives or agents required.
Happy stillin' Folks

Cheers.

Ahh mr chronicle - where have you been?

Don't stress, Add a half a pinch of bicarbonate which will take the acidity of the citric down.

Or not, it's TPW, it's a VERY forgiving recipe.

Sorry, run that by me again. No filtering? As in no pre distilling or post distilling?

That's correct mate, with a TPW you can run it once thru your refluw still and there is no need for any sort of filtering provided you make good cuts. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

What kimbo said +1. Save a fortune on all the bullshit additives and just do more runs with harsh cuts. Turf more than you think to be safe and away you go. It's the cheapest way to go for neutral.

This stuff is so simple but also so unbelievably neutral compared to the turbo stuff.
On the weekend I tried 2 batches of the same burbon. (well sort of burbon, both made with the same essence)
One batch was my last turbo wash cleared/filtered (and I mean my very last turbo wash)
Other batch TPW not cleared but also filtered thru carbon. Both soaked on the same oak chips for 1 month.
Well the difference was amazing.Almost thought about throwing the turbo stuff away buyt couldnt bring myself to do it.
The 20 y/o young bloke next door rekons the turbo tasted good so he can have it. He must like the taste of petrol lol.
Thanks again all for the information on here.

Yeah, I ust to use that stuff too, just put my first TPW through and I'm really pleased, also it's good to know you don't need some 'magical' product (turbo) but just your bare everyday supplies from the cupboard.

Also any reason for the vast difference in sugar. From memory "turbo" uses 8kg per 25L wash as opposed to this of 5Kg

Although I dont mind "less" as long as the output is not less.

it's all about quality over quantity..... if all that matters is large yield keep using turbos ;-)

yeast dont like being pushed to their limits, they produce unwanted flavours.

happy yeast = happy drinking :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You will get less booze......... but you use less sugar.
it should work out to be around half the price and you will make a better product :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You'll get a lot less with a TPW but it will be much, much better. Also the cost is such that you can churn out a lot more for a lot less than turbos.

Yield isn't a reason to stick with turbos...

Nope. Never heard that before. It could be too much heads (which can smell sweet)...how harsh are your cuts? Doesn't sound normal though.

so if I was to run this TPW through my little 5ltr reflux, obviously 5 runs for the 25ltrs, how much neutral could I expect per run, currently with turbo I get about 800ml of clean odourless neutral, that's after taking 100ml of heads (that goes into the metho bottle for general cleaning and lawn mower augmentation) and cutting off well before the smelly tails (that get recycled).
