My submersible pump just blew up. I tried one of those Seekco ones above and it worked really well except for that I put it on top of my IBC and needed to prime it with garden hose to get it to work and as soon as I turned it off it would run back without a non-return valve. I don't put my return hoses back to inside the IBC as I like to see the water running back to ensure everything is working and I can monitor the flow rate. This pump has a cast iron body and I also noticed a bit of corrosion starting when leaving it wet for a few days. It also only just had enough flow rate for my needs. I tried a submersible pond pump and this looks pretty good. All plastic, rated for continuous running and up to 60C water temperature. I am getting 2 from eBay for $30 each compared to the Aquapro ones from Bunnings being $149. They are only 45W each compared to an Ozito 350W pump and much more quiet. Will use one for each condenser as dedicated units. Just need to get my hoses sorted again. Garden hoses tend to flatten out and restrict flow. Silicone is expensive. Rubber lined hose is the most kink resistant so am going to try Nylex NeverKink Pro and see how this works.

Chlorine is corrosive even on stainless steel. I use an algaecide it contains benzalkonium chloride and is used in ponds and pools. Bunnings have it in the pond equipment area.

Hi RVN what size hose did you run directly from your pump and where did you tee of to release back pressure ?

Hey all, if the Ozito isn't in stock would this be ok for $10 more? It is 750W though, is that too powerful? Or will the T help

Cheers.

Hey fox,

I run a 350W as well and it's just about right. I think the 750W will work but you'll be wasting a lot of money on running it when it will cost you less than half to run a 350W.

It will also make a bigger mess if you have a leak or a hose fitting shits itself.

Been to 4 different bunnos in the last month, the ozito pumps seem to be getting replaced by the ryobi ones as they run out at each location, the product/store finder may find the 350w somewhere near you

I use a 12w one that came with a free pool for $45, 720lph at 1/2m head using 1" pipe

Has any one set up a recirc system using an auto rain tank pump, something like this

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264692449035

I have a 1000L tank that collects from the roof with a tap at the bottom already. I'm thinking if I went with this style of pump over the submersible I then also have an auto start pump for watering the garden

With a couple of tees to have a recirc loop and valve to control flow to PC, is there any reason this won't work?

With a bypass set up it should be fine, otherwise on slow spirit runs it would cycle a lot giving a pretty big fluctuation in water pressure, making it hard to keep your condensers stable

I use the aqua pro AP7500HM / 150W / head = 4.2m / 7550 L/h
https://aquaproonline.com.au/product/aquapro-ap7510hm-multi-use-pump/

It was a clearance item (@ Bunnings) but works very well and being 150W reasonably cheap to run.

@ginking, How did you connect your hose to your still? Do you have any photos of the hose and fittings and connections?
