Thus far I have had three pumps fail.

The last two were these cheap ebay submersible pumps:

They were $12 pre-covid19 price increases.

Yeah but what is the damn root cause of the three pump failures! damn rust! Yeah the internal rotor metal layers rusted causing a clog between the magnets and rotor.

Whatever 12v pumps I select next, they need to either feature anti-corrosion internal metals or be submersed in a anti-corrosion solution post run.
With humidity been 70-90% lately, flash rust is real. I have performed tests on various metals dipped in acid then left to dry. Yeah flash rust appears within minutes.
Car coolant should be suitable to place the pumps in post distilling, then flush it out before the next run.

What are you using these pumps for ?
If it’s for cooling water , grab a proper pump like the Ozito 350w from Bunnings

I use a boat bilge pump to transfer wash from the fermenter and am using the same one for 12 months no issues thus far. If that helps

I use a 12 volt flojet pump for my setup, it's been going now for over a decade and still going. :handgestures-thumbupleft: As it is 12 volt DC I made a 240AC to 12 volt circuit up along with a fleabay speed controller and find I only need to run it @ 30% for cooling a run.

The ol' adage buy cheap stuff and you will buy enough of them to cost more than a good quality one you should of bought first.

not a 12v pump but I use a 25w magnetic pump (non submersible) for a t500 and have now upgraded to the 65w magnetic pump for the 4" bubbler as the 25w just couldn't quite handle full reflux in the 4". both are 100% duty cycle

the 65w is overkill. 40w would work but don't think they make them. I can also run 2 stills off the 65w no worries. the water temp and cooling it is the bigger issue if the 2 especially when ambient air and water temps are 35-40.
