Valve tray weights

Postby bt1 » Wed Jan 29, 2014 9:16 pm

Howdy,

Mucking around with a clatter valve design currently ... 8" trays... has anyone got any history with the valve weight issue?

Has anyone cut down commercial trays to suit?

Truly struggling with weight vs. floating vs closure times and the reach for that matter.

Appreciate any real world experience.

I did some reading on valve trays about 6 months ago on HD. I remember there was a lot of talk re. using copper coins and I kinda zoned out because they are not really easily obtained here.

Quite the contrary, to source pre-1981 USA or Canadain copper pennys simply approach a coin dealer or collector, I got 200 USA pre 81 copper pennys delivered overnight for SWFA.
A coin dealer will also know the metal composition of abv given coin...
