Malt Kiln Stainless mesh

Postby whiskeyshiner » Sat Feb 08, 2014 3:56 pm

Hey fellas I use a fair bit of malt making my whiskey so I thought I would make a malt kiln similar to the one in Ian Smileys book Making Pure Corn Whiskey. I can't seem to find any staino mesh that isn't powder coated. I've tried Bunning and Security screen places. They mainly do aluminium, steel and plastic fly screens. Just wondering if anyone had a hot tip on where to get it. I mean its only malt so I don't think paint should be an issue but I like to use only staino and copper for my brewery. Thanks

If any one else built one of these I'd appreciate it very much to know what they used as an alternative or what material they used for the screens :text-thankyoublue: Cheers

Hi WS,
I just used the powder coated staino stuff and it works a treat.
Infact, I'm pretty sure it was the crimsafe mesh :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Stainless screen should be available in 20", 30", and 36" wide. I use hog wire (2 inch x 4 inch) steel wire as a backer. Makes easy frames in 2x4 stack lumber. No issue at all.
