I've tried using a large fermenter I think 200l and I ran a 120l batch, so 3 batches in one.
By the time I got to running the third batch it was infected.
I assumed assumed because of all the opening and all the head space there wasn't enough co2 to protect it
Do you have any issues with this?
BTW it was a BKOR

Well decided I wanted some TPW wash's so went to Barnicle Bills and got 2 more tubs, went to all 3 supermarkets in Mt Barker only to find they don't stock homebrew gear anymore. The bird in Kmart said that the fire safety place on the Handorf road is also a HBS supplier so went there. Picked up 2 new airlocks and got talking about distilling. She said one of her customers was doing a TPW and I said guess what in the boot of the car :)) :)) :)) 8kg's of sugar and 2 tubs of tomato paste. She asked what yeast i used and I said EC1118 and if you think that turbo yeast crap will give you anything other than rocket fuel your mind would be in disneyland :laughing-rolling:

Anyway total cost for 2 new 21 litre fermenters $19 :happy-partydance:

I like the idea of the Bunnings bins or rainwater tanks for fermenting. The plastic doesn't leach into the flavour I am assuming?

Just a warning with the maze 120 litre bins as i bought 2 a few weeks ago 1st make sure you hace a really good look at the bottoms for cracks took 1 back swapped it got it home only to realise it also had a crack in it took it back. was made to feel like i was in the wrong that i had done it but was quite happy to go back and tell the woman i just got the last 1 without a crack in it and they would have too send the other 11 they had back :laughing-rolling: .
2nd be prepared for some messing around with the taps supplied. Thread isnt that good still playing with mine tried thread tape hasnt seemed to help much so bought some stainless taps and the leak :angry-banghead:

still too fill 1 and see what it looks like thinking 100ltr with 20 ltr space maybe?

I uses 2 of the 120l maze brand bins, never had a problem with cracks

A $4 bulk head tank fitting from the garden isle works great for a tap fitting
