Hi all
I have /am developing an interest in distilling spirits such as gin whiskey as Im a keen drinker of them and various others- including red wine
I had no idea where to start a few months ago but fortunately found this site. The info I have found is both informative and to some extent bewildering.
I have searched through many post and must offer special thanks to Carol! I have also spent many hours on youtube, especially Jesse on Still It.

Now, if I decide distilling is for me, I am tossing up between an Air Still Pro and a 2” FSD Boka. The ASP as I know nothing relatively speaking and it seems the simplest way to get into distilling - and the Boka seems to be the next level up. Maybe Id regret the ASP after a few months?
There’s no way I could build a still , I have leftover bits when I assemble Ikea stuff!
Im also concerned about the water usage on the Boka and other water cooled stills as it seems , without a pool, I will be flushing many litres of precious water down the drain.
Anyway , thanks for all your inputs- my research continues.
Dennis

Welcome aboard Dfer
The airstill option definitely overcomes the cooling water issue, but I believe the bigger broke option will give you a marked improvement in quality. I am lucky enough to have a rain water tank I can recycle cooling water into.
With gin and whisky as your desired output you may want to take a look at your pot still options.

Welcome Dfer
I’ve been running an air still not the pro, for over a year now, it suits my lifestyle and I can sit back in lounge room having a cornflake wash on French oak from June 24 whilst watching the stripping run progress in the kitchen. But…. I have read carol’s boka still post from start to finish and I’m seriously considering contacting the Stig about a pot still set up. Enjoy the reading learning and reading it’s been an awesome time for me and I have managed all grain wash’s, and am currently doing bwko generations so don’t let these big still fellas &ladies push ya around it’s a great forum.

Hi Dfer,
I went with the FSD 2" Boka and Pot Still around 12 months ago
I have not looked back once since, or remotely thought of it.
I mainly run CFW Neutrals and the hearts cut make an awesome drop.

I'm not familiar with Air Stills though.

I run a 350w Submersible Pump in a 3000lt rain tank. If I didn't have the tank then I would have gone for a couple of 220lt blue plastic drums linked together. I picked up 2 recently for $30 each on Gumtree, for other storage.

Welcome to the Rabbit Hole Dfer :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Mate if you have to ask SWMBO just put a couple of 44's in the back yard go the full hog mate and ask to put a 1,000 litre IBC where you can say the long term project is to catch rainwater but in reality that project can go on the backlist as it's too hard :laughing-rolling: then a simple pump setup and return will solve your cooling water. :handgestures-thumbupleft: Now when your farther down the rabbit hole putting in a second or third one may just stretch it but the trusty ol' Panties Dropper usually works to sooth the anger :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Cheers Bryan
