Just found this site while trying to find a place to source a new boiler.
Here's what I'm using at the moment. It's a VM, only 1.5 inch dia, packed with stainless steel scrubbers. Top condenser is an internal liebig. Bath tub full with pond pump for cooling. Scissor lift at the base(which I made) is so I can lower the boiler away from the column without having to touch the column or wait for cool down. The boiler is only 15 litres, so I can only do about 10 litres at a time, but this makes a strip run only take about an hour and a half from flame-on. A finishing run takes about 4 hours.
I'm using a wheatgerm recipe with 6kg of sugar, so only end up with about 4 litres @ 40% once diluted per wash. I don't collect anything once the temp gets to 81-82 degrees.
The still consistently produces 95%
