Another Kiwi checking in

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Another Kiwi checking in

Postby Teddysad » Wed Mar 07, 2012 8:38 am

Hi all, I have been experimenting for a couple of years. Started with the airstill, quickly upgraded and moved on to a CM unit and now to a pretty fancy unit (Alex 25 Google it)
After discovering HD and Ad I moved away from Turbos and have had good success with TPW Wineo etc. Also now do a nice mollasses based rum and corn based variation.
Always learning and am an info sponge

Pleased to be here on this site

Have the benefit of not being secret as here in NZ many friends know of my hobby

Thanks McStill

I am experimenting using both whole kernel sweet corn and cream style sweetcorn and cooking it into a soup before fermenting with malted barley and a lower amount of sugar. So far results are coming out quite well especially after aging on oak

I buy the big 2.7 kg cans from the grocery wholesaler.

My next project is a rolled oats based wash to add flavour/taste to a vodka

Most people realize its limitations real quick, unlike some :teasing-neener: :teasing-neener: (I need an emoticon of a bear being poked with a stick)
I must be fair, my Mum lovers her air still that I gave here when I moved on and it did teach me a lot.

Hi Frank
The word regress is yours not mine I said upgraded from

I quickly found the limitations of size and quality of output the the filtering ( while still leaving a lower grade product) drove me up the wall.

However as so many have said it was a starting point.

Will advise on rolled oats as I experiment
