Mate, given your experience with AG beer I think you will find a comfortable home here.

There is always room for somebody who wants to share their knowledge around brewing

You talked about "Future Proofing" yourself. I agree.Buy equipment you do not completely understand right now but if you have ben making beer for such a long time it will not take long for you to figure out

I hope I can give back a bit with AG knowledge. I am reading up to learn more about whats not important for whiskey mashing & fermenting so i have a better idea on what AG beer process are overkill for distillation. (i.e. no boil post mash)

I'm heavily leaning down the path of getting what I think will last me forever and grow into it, i think with my obsessiveness of researching and some face-to-face time will get me up to speed on the theory quickly. Then it will be a simple case of years of trial and error of learning how to run it and learning how to do cuts and blends. Easy!
