Hello again!

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Hello again!

Postby Hawkeye » Mon Feb 07, 2022 3:57 pm

Hi there, just putting a new hello out there as it has been many long years since I first discovered Aussie distiller.

I’m Hawkeye, was in WA and now in Tasmania- started with an original MacBoka back in the day.

Now the new still has arrived and it’s time to get her cranky - my Christmas present needs to start paying her way.

A brand new 4 inch glasser, on a converted keg, 2 x 2200 watt elements, 5 star controller, oh and I also have a 500mm 4 inch packed column for it too.

First up will be some kale wash for sacrificial and then a neutral run.

Cheers ladies and gents

Shame that MASH still would not work :laughing-rolling:
They did have a still in the pilot ep that would have functioned but in ep 2 that still was gone

@Hawkeye, I'm moving to Tasmania from Central Victoria around January next year. Am going to be down south in the Huon. My current gear is similar to yours (although none is commercial) & I'd love to hear your thoughts on the community in Tassie!

After I found out where Tacman lives and paid a couple of visits it appears he is off to Tassie. We all know western Aust is further away but he is still worried I could drive there :laughing-rolling:

Hi there, the Huon is a pretty picturesque quiet place, getting more modern and less isolated as time goes on and more people discover tassie. Community is overall pretty friendly, just don’t be too much of a mainlander :teasing-tease: people like tassie for a reason, and they don’t like people coming over and trying to make it more like the mainland :))

I’m also in the south near Huon and Hobart - drop me a dm when you move across :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Did a spirit run yesterday of kale wash for neutral - so far pretty happy with the results!

Next plan is to put down a rum, and have a go at a cornflakes whiskey and a weetbix wash :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If I were you , I would get the first plate up a little of the top of the keg .
A 100mm spacer should do the trick, especially for rums

The 100mm spacer has saved me a number of times. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I’m guessing you guys are suggesting a spacer because of the puking issue? I’ve never run a rum before.
