Hello Everyone.

I've been playing with home brew beer for a few years now, and have always been intruiged by this hobby.

I've done a lot or reading both on and off this forum and want to build a 50l keg boiler with electric elements, with a 2" column.
The plan will be to make this a pot still with liebig condensor.
this will be for rums, and some whiskey.

later on i would like to have a reflux setup as well, but thats a question for a later date!

looking forward to read some more on this forum, and ask some (hopefully useful) questions.

For now, i need a 50L keg.
ive had a google and havent had much luck.
does anyone have a link or contact where i may be able to purchase one

Cheers

Welcome, maybe check gumtree for kegs.
And if you can go bigger than 2” you’ll not regret it later on.
Enjoy the rabbit hole your about to dive into

ive had a look at gumtree, and found one, but the area that it comes from likely implies its been stolen anyway.
was hoping for a decommisioned keg from something a little more legitement. lol.

i was going to go with 3" originally, but after watching a few videos (specifically barley and hops) ive come to the conclusion that the 2" is a good level between cost and efficiency with the pot still.
is this true? or is the 3" that much better?

Thanks for the welcome =)

Welcome aboard.
I’ve found Facebook market place a good place to source kegs. Can usually get them for as little as $30 to $40

4” is the better point , the diff between 2” and 3” is negligible
