Here I go again....

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Here I go again....

Brewed my own beer many, many years ago (2008 -).
Then decided to expand my hobbies and bought a 'still.
Like most things I undertook, the novelty soon wore off.

The first still was .... I can't remember but similar to a Still Spirits Super Reflux....I think. (Still have it)

Then after reading a lot about distilling, I bought a Pure Distilling Spirit Maker due to its simplicity and capabilities.
It did its job....quite a few times.
But as always, the novelty wore off.

A few months ago I decided to have another go at distilling, so I bought a Still Spirits Air Still Kit.

As I don't guzzle lots of booze, I figured 2 litres of hooch every 13 days (fermenting, clearing, distilling and carbon filtering) will keep me in good spirits for 20 days @ 100mL per day....that's 2 big shots a day.

Bought 10 air still yeast kits and have started No. 4.
The first 3 were OK but not the best. (Still gave the brain cells a good workout)
Flavoured with essences they were great.

Using the liquid carbon in the wash sure removes the smell during the ferment. Probably not needed, but definitely gets rid of the rotten egg odour.

So here I am starting the journey again.....

Something keeps drawing you back, wonder what it could be :obscene-drinkingchug:

Curious as to what you did with all your old equipment ?

Satisfaction....That's what brought me back.

Curiosity may have killed the cat, BUT satisfaction brought him back.

Still got all my old original equipment....
Fermenters,
Heating...belts and pads,
19L Corny Kegs (6 or 8),
2 Kegerators with taps etc,
Large CO2 bottle with all fittings (still full, I think),
Heaps and heaps of clean beer bottles (750ml and 375ml).
Temperature controllers,
Bottling equipment,
Unused cans of Coopers LME,
A few kilograms of dextrose (abt 12 years old),
Then....
Still #1,
Still #2,
Bits and pieces.

I intend to resurrect still #2 and have added heaps of new toys to make the hobby a lot more fun.

That's one thing about distilling, you tend to look at everyday things and start wondering if you could ferment it? :))

I've actually Fermented beef stew just to seem if it would be drinkable, FYI it's not.
