Hi Everyone!

I've been jumping in and out of the hobby for a few months at a time every 5 years or so, whenever I decide buying alcohol is too expensive, generally doing sugar washes for neutral spirits with my T500 copper reflux condenser.

The main reason for the renewed interest is because I was researching high percentage alcohols to make limoncello and was blown away by the approximately $80-$100 price tag for 500ml of ~90% spirit, this put my gears into alignment to get back into the craft yet again.

I would also like to take it further and look at getting equipment to run my boiler as a pot still so I can make some of my own spirits to age.

I look forward to the reading material and hope that I can be helpful to others while I'm here.

Welcome Jason
Heaps of info here , the 2 inch pot still might be worth a look as it will fit your current boiler.
Carol has a good post on it if you are interested

Hi Jason
This is my thread on my 2" boka and pot as Wellsy suggested.
You might find it helpful as it uses the same boiler.

Welcome Jason!

That’s hilarious, we both came to the same conclusion after researching neutral for limoncello :laughing-rolling:

Which wash and limoncello recipe are you going with? And whereabouts are you based?

Thanks Bustah!

After I made my post, I had a squiz at the other newbie posts and had a chuckle that we had the same reason :laughing-rolling:

I'm going to try a few different recipes for wash to find a neutral I like most, at the moment I have three bubbling away, a TPW (standard recipe on packet), Still Spirits Classic 8 Turbo (8kg sugar and carbon sachet) and Alcotec 48 Turbo Pure (8kg sugar and going to do a ton of purification where needed :)) ).

The Limoncello recipe's I'm going to try first are from channels I follow on Youtube that I quite like and got me interested in trying out Limoncello in the first place, OrsaraRecipes and cuoredicioccocolato.

I'll link the videos below if you wanted to check them out.

Had to edit my post, I forgot to mention that I'm based in VIC.

Thanks for those! That first guy is amazing! Reminds me of my Nonno, but i guess that’s just all old Italians :laughing-rolling:

I’m definitely going closer to the ratios of the second video, 1:1ish neutral:syrup, not sure how all the written recipes everywhere have it as 30% avb when it should be rocket fuel!

Let me know which wash turns out the best! I think I’m running the tpw first followed by the fast fermenting vodka viewtopic.php?f=32&t=10949 although I’m guessing with the reflux and lemons/sugar the base wash might not even be a factor
