Hello from Moreton Bay

Hi everyone,

Very new newbie here, just getting my gear setup this week and keen to get started. Have a lot more research to do but can't wait to safely start making this happen.

Looking forward to eventually making some nice whiskeys but going to start out with gins and vodkas. From everything I've read and seen there's so much creativity around and I'm excited to get in on that.

Chat with you guys around the traps!

Cheers,
D

Welcome D.

Looking at your profile, it appears you have a pot still. Vodka is going to be difficult to achieve with a pot still. It's not impossible, but it takes a lot more effort. I would recommend starting with a WBAB wash as it makes an excellent vodka and a good whisky base.

Adding to what Stig said, the only silly question is the one that hasn't been asked.

There's plenty of info in Newbies corner to get you going too.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely look up WBAB and give it a whirl.

Cheers!

Hi, I'm in Scarborough. I have a Turbo 500 and have done a few successful runs. I mainly make rum and whiskey using essences and soaking on oak. I have also made some great Limoncello using raw spirit to soak my peels. Cheers
