g'day from Sydney

Say Hi and introduce yourself

g'day from Sydney

Postby Kal » Mon Jul 18, 2011 9:55 pm

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to this hobby, after doing far too much reading of places like homedistiller and artisan distiller when I was made redundant last year and I had way too much time on my hands. Before I knew it I was building a still and fermenting my first wash

Anyway, I'm back to working but I'll be sticking to this newfound hobby of mine :)

Since I'm pretty hopeless at making stuff I bought my 2" bok off OD after seeing some of his work on HD. Stuck this on a 50L keg with a 2200W element. I also have a simple 2" pot still head. So far I've only fermented and distilled WPOSW to make a very nice neutral. Double distilled in the bok and with no filtering it is a very fine vodka!

I'm waiting for some warmer weather to come along before I try my hand at something more complex. I'd like to try some UJSSM this spring, maybe a rum as well.

Hi Kal, good to have another Sydney member, was starting to think only QLDers were into this

Welcome on board, feel free to ask anything. Got pics of your boka to share?

Cheers

Here's a pic of my setup when I was doing the vinegar cleaning run. Since then I have insulated the Keg :)

I found this site when I followed a link on Artisan distiller forums to a dead url at aussiehomedistiller, so I google searched aussiehomedistiller and saw a post on aussiebrewer. The post was gone from aussiebrewer but I could still see the url to this place in the google result. Definately not the easiest place to find!
