G'day from SE Vic

Say Hi and introduce yourself

G'day from SE Vic

Postby grehund » Fri Aug 05, 2011 7:04 pm

Hi to everyone.

I'm brand new to distilling. Building my first still at the moment, a Bok 2". Looking forward to learning the craft & making some great drinks. I love my whisky, both Scotch and Irish, as well as many other spirits. I'm not into beer at all.

Been lurking around HD for a while, but thought I'd sign up here too. I could do with some more local input.

Welcome mate,

Seen your post about boiler connections to your rig over on HD, piece of cake mate.... too easy.

All you need is a 40mm brass backing nut from a plumbing supplies store, Solder it onto your column and your done ;)

Enjoy your time here.

Cheers.

edit: if you ask the Stig nicely he might show you how I connected his rig to a T500 boiler ;)

No problem ;)

I see you've had responses elsewhere, the 40mm backing nut is the cheapest easiest way to go ;)

If you go to THIS thread, you can see the nut on the base of the column. The T500's connection nut still goes through the lid into the base of the column.
If you want some disassembled pic's just let me know.

Thanks The Stig, I got it sorted this weekend.

5Star, I know that Whisky is made from grain, the same as beer, but to say Whisky is "made from beer" seems a bit inaccurate to me. ;)

It's called beer in the distillery. The only difference tween the beer that whiskey is made from and beer at the pub is that it doesn't have hops in it. 8-)

I'd call AFL players/supporters a bunch of poofters........ but that might be politically incorrect to do so, and I wouldnt want to offend anyone

Maybe I should move to Qld?

Anyone here able to help me out on my thread over at HD? :?

I don't know if directing to HD is P.C. So if I need to start the same thread on AD, just let me know. :?:

When your temp jumps around it could be due to reflux hitting the temp probe, but after a quick glance at that thread I'd probably suggest filling your boiler to at least half full.

There's going top be a lot of alcohol in that column as reflux and vapor. ;)
