Yeah sparkle don't matter mate, performance does.

I don't like cork, but if I use it I wrap it in Teflon plumbers tape. It's cheap and keeps the cork away from your spirit. Also gives a slightly tighter seal too.

Thanks guys ... It has been a great learning experience and just so much fun. The help given by all the members on the forum has been invaluable. So generous and so right. Without you guys I never would have finished.

Now I need to concentrate on mastering the running of the beast. Even on the first run it has become obvious that just making the still is not the end of the story. While it sounds simple, cuts are something that need practice. And while fermenting sounds simple, colder weather can make life interesting. It is all a learning curve, and I am a willing, if somewhat retarded, student.

This hobby could easily become an all pervasive obsession.

Thanks for the bump! I'd forgotten about the build. I guess that's a function of:

Age (old)
Product (lots)
Time (not lot)
Product (lots more)
Memory Failure (see Product)
and Product (even more)

But casting my mind way back (not a lot of effort, as my mind is fairly light), the build was fun. The still isn't pretty, but the output sure is.

I had about 43 litres of rum sitting in a keg with oak for 18 months. That made all the pain worth while. It was great!

I must make some more ... family & neighbours loved it.
