another WBAB wash put through the new still this afternoon. I think I have just under 4 litres of 'kept' distilate. After tossing the first 1.25 litres approx.
Starting to learn the new still and its quirks on-top of a 65l kegland digiboil. Will see how much I've learnt by doing it again tomorrow morning, as I have another 50 litres of WBAB to dump into boiler.

Oh the feints run last night went until 11pm. I threw out the first nearly 2 litres whilst changing settings constantly. Then kept next 6 litres, which I diluted down to 65% and threw some oak Domino's into it in 2.5 litre batches. (x4)

Howdy all.

It is 11.30am and I'm starting by 2nd spirit run on my new 5 star bubbler. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

As you would expect with anything new, there is always experimentation, testing, changing things around.
I am hopeful that each run I will gain more confidence with my setup and it becomes easier each time.

There was some left over water in base of boiler. I added 52 litres of fermentation, then some more clean water to flush the transfer pump (extra litre approx).

I think there is about 57 litres in total in boiler.

Let's see how today goes.

Cheers all

Have fun mate.
I always start early as late afternoon/early evening finish cuts into drinking time lol

I agree with you Wellsy - but its getting cold in the garage in early mornings. Starting slightly later means no frozen hose from the water tank.
AND
as the boiler really starts going, its then afternoon so I can START my drinking time. :laughing-rolling:
I did manage to finish at 5pm yesterday, then help my wife with doing the sunday night roast.

This weekend I have also used the dunder from the boiler to do a second generation of the WBAB in both 60 litre fermenters. So I'll see how that turns out.
I'm hoping that I can do both runs on Kings Birthday next Monday. ;-)

I had a small sample of this just now. One month with an oak domino medium roast (from 5 star).
The flavors are starting to come through very nice. Can’t wait to keep tasting it every month.

Sample was 20 ml of spirit and 10 ml of distilled water. I’m reckoning it got down close to 40% abv for sampling.
