Found a little bucket for an acid bath and raided a tin of citric acid from the kitchen.

Cleaned up a few bits, and got one of the SG's soldered up. I used hard solder on the back but it took a fair bit of doing with MAPP, so I'll soft solder the rest.

I have to say, hindsight for a newbie is good. like small things like how to make your own flanges and have them seal right, the do's and donts. but still this shouldnt stop you staring on those plates :O)

May as well get a pic up. Got the SG's soldered up, and started rebuilding the bottom piece of the Carter head. The original one was a bit rushed and shit, the new one will be a lot nicer. It should also seal :laughing-rolling:

I have to cut 5 or 6mm from the front of the fishmouths so the brass rings pull up tight.

Picked up the lantern glass from Bryan this morning, fits perfectly inside the ridge of a 3" seal :handgestures-thumbupleft:

The nuts and bolts for the Carter head arrived today. I ordered them in 3 separate transactions on eBay, didn't even realize it was the same seller. Today they all rock up in the same envelope :happy-partydance: I was expecting them to arrive piece by piece over the next month :laughing-rolling:

Getting close now!
