Just need to build a form or some type of jig to insure your tubing remains true while pulling your divet into the tubing....More work for sure but should make up for the up front labor down the road.

Can cut a concave in a wood form by gaging a table saw blade to the correct depth and installing a modified fence at the correct angle in order to conform to the true roundness of your tubing.
Might even be faster to splay your tubing, install the wood form on the halved up piece of tubing, pull your divets into the tubing,, and maybe even install the plates,,then put the two halves back together.......Or sumpin like that........

Sure is a good looking design though
