6" takeoff speed

Postby Hardie355 » Mon Nov 07, 2016 9:49 am

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at upgrading from my 4" glasser to a 6" rig just wondering what the average take off speed for these or would i be better off going 8".
I'm not getting as much time as i used to. Also the glasser may go up for sale after the new rig is finished.

Cheers.

6" will be the go for me when I've got my boiler all set up and ready to go. Couple of exams left then I'll have the time to finish it up.

what boiler size do you have? or what size will you be able to use and how much power will you throw at it?. this is what you need to know.

i would say go 100L for 6" and have at least close to 7.2kw.

larger for 8", about 200L would be the equivalent of a 50L 4" and i would probably use 9.6kw+.

how often do you still? this might determine what size you need.

I got a price on getting a 230l boiler made out of 2mm ss all laser cut, with 2 6" ferrules on top 2" drain and 4 element ports conical top and bottom on adjustable legs for $950 so i would probably go that way so i can still once a month.
Ive got the 6" copper here but i would like 6" glass tube cos they look cool and alot less work in building but i cant find any anywhere.
Power wont be a problem mates and brother are sparkys.

At those sizes and volumes..... you must drink heaps to still once a month.
Or have great parties...

Possibly find it would be closer to once every 2 or 3 months...
You will be amazed at how quick and how much is produced by a 6" compared to a 4".

i would prefer to distill shitloads, age it on low grams of oak for a very long time. have some nice long term aged shit.. dont need to distill alot and drink it. it can be stored and aged for a better product

Man after my own heart! :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Once you have a base product you are happy with, then making quantity for ageing is no problem.
Having storage space can be.
I'm storing in 20, 30 and 40ltr kegs.
Beats the hell out of demi's and glass in general.

At the moment about 5-6 months is all i can manage and its a bloody good drop. So i'm keen to see what 2 years is like :happy-partydance:
