Shorty, the 10 plate column

I don't usually play the naming stills game, but I thought I'd give it a try...

Made an acceptble vodka out of a 1/2 rum, 1/2 UJ wash. But because I don't drink vodka as a rule, my standards might be a bit low. Made it in good time too. Only a trial batch, will hopefully do a real test later in the week.

Bloody hell!
Did that deplete the boiler in order to load the plates? very impressive

The bottom plate was a valve plate, but all the rest were perforated.

I reckon it came close Kimbo. It was only a small 20L "test" charge. It didn't run for long before the lower plates started drying up.

I did a better testing run.
Rounded up 15 litres of feints and a few bottles of red wine, topped it up with 20 litres UJ wash. Total 35 litres at about 25%.
I collected 8 litres at 94-95% and some late tails.
First litre had some vauge smells, rest was nice and clean till the last litre or so. It seems that these dirty washes I'm running are giving some heads and tails, but not bad neutral in the middle, considering where it came from. It could be the bad smelling stuff is coming from the fact I only have 10 plates. 11 or more is needed for neutral, or so they say. I will make up some TPW soon, that might sort that out.

I'm pretty happy with what this still can do and how its performing. I had my doubts, but it works so far.
