Running a bubbler without rc

Postby Wobblyboot » Wed Jun 08, 2016 8:16 pm

I got everything for 5 plate bubbler with 500mm packed section except for rc, it's ordered and payed for and patiently waiting, but I got some washes that need to be run, would I be able to do single run with it instead of strip and spirit like I'd do with pot still? I mean 4 plates for a bwko and last of fruit, not any neutral runs, will wait for them..

Sorry mate but without that rc all you have is a great big pot still.

You probably will have to run it very slow to try and minimize smearing of the fractions. :-B may as well call it a strip run :teasing-tease:

I thought so, but I have noticed over the last few months that each bubble plate increases abv by 5% as u add them compared to old pot still :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Each one of my plates with the rc increases it by about 22%.

But that increases it by 88% with 4 plates?

I thought the rc dictated abv and the plates were to help carry flavour to the high proof alcohol at the top of the tower..

Without an rc you will not get much return to the top plate and then the same to the plates below, it will raise the abv compared to a straight pot still but will still be smeared. With a power controller you may be able to run it slower and gain some reflux but it would be a waist of time imo. I recon just strip your washes mate and when your rc turns up run the low wines and you will see what your bubbler is really capable of :handgestures-thumbupleft:

:happy-partydance: my rc is on its way, it's been over a year in the planning of what I wanted, last piece of the puzzle almost here :music-deathmetal: work can get stuffed on Friday, I got far more important things to do! 1st will be 22l of Apple low wines, then run the bwko, then then then, so much to do

Best thing you could do without an rc is to stand there and spray the column with a squirty bottle  :-D

Haha I did think of similar things :teasing-tease: but now I got it and watching it bubble away on cleaning run. It's a thing of beauty :handgestures-thumbupleft: need to change few things but it's been worth the wait :happy-partydance:
