Using Lowans and temperatures

Postby biff » Tue Sep 22, 2026 5:23 pm

In the TPW forum I was talking about using Lowans and I felt it was steering aways from the TPW topic.
So I moved it here.
Some great replies mentioned it works best at 30C but maybe down to 25C.
And the use of Inkbird controllers. Thanks to those who replied. It really helps a newbie.
I dont need the heating controller part, especially with summer coming on inOz, so which Inkbird would suit me?
I am running 2 plastic 30L fermenters and at the moment finishing off my stock of turbo washes but the next ones will be the tomato paste wash.
I have old yoga mats around them which work quite well. And heating pads.
My question is if I tape the temperature probe to the outside of the fermenters under the yoga mats would that be suitable way to read the temp of the wash?
cheers

Sure will and don’t stress it biff, I have mine taped on with masking tape to a stainless steel fermente. I tried putting it in some foam packing and taping that but the masking tape strait on to tub seems to work for me. I’m sure people with 3d printers and more of an idea will have some awesome ideas for you try. Throw it in wrap it up see ya in 14 days, fermented cleared and ready to go lol
When I was using plastic fermenters I made up a temp box out of some foil panelling, insulated panel I think it was from Bunnings il try dig up some pics but they should be on here somewhere
