I just noticed a mark in the base of my keg that’s interesting. Does anyone know what these mean? Does it affect the integrity of the boiler?

I have a couple like that, im not sure if it means decommissioned or if some tool bounced it off the end a round pipe somewhere on a truck - it seems a very common damage though....

Hey stillthinking

They are there by design. The are socially cut to burst if the ket is over pressured. They will split allowing the pressure and contents of course to vent, thus avoiding a serious situation..

It doesn’t affect the keg as a boiler at all.
Cheers

Would not like to be near a keg if it failed as they can take a very high pressure and there have been deaths and serious injury .
