cutting a keg

Postby fizzydrink » Wed May 15, 2013 11:14 pm

hey guys,

i know you do it all the time so its second nature and you do it without thinking, but what is the best way to cut a keg?

not making a boiler out of it but want to cut it open for another project.

is just as simple as taking to it with a grinder?

cheers

I hope your not going to turn it into a letter box or urinal...or use it for beer...these are things a keg was not meant for.

If a grinder is not your freind, you can always use a hacksaw :))

My mate turned one into a urinal. Got a Emu Bitter font tap on the top to flush it. And the piece de resistance, a Fremantle Dockers sticker down the bottom to piss on :))

This may be a bit late but... I used a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade.
I started the cut with 5 x 2mm drilled holes.
Once again let the tool do the cutting not the force.

I was able to get hold of a keg that had been cut to be used as a letterbox..who the hell needs a 50 ltr letterbox.I plan on turning it into a malting kiln.
