Has anybody ever replaced the silicone seal in the turbo boiler? If so what did you use?

Sorry if this has been asked before but the search function brings up so many hits and I cant find an answer anywhere.

Think you can buy them from your hbs, or contact the manufacturer

I plan on doing some tig welding on the lid and I'm worried I'll most likely burn the seal out, thats why I'm looking at maybe needing to replace the seal.

It seems well glued in , I reckon I'd damage it trying. To be honest I'd like to replace it with something other than silicone too.

There's nothing better than silicon mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:
You could try to find a silicon baking sheet that is big enough and cut a new one out but don't do what I did and buy cheapies :angry-banghead: ,spend the $40 or so and get a genuine 100% silicon one.

I tracked down a replacement seal online for $11 plus postage so it's all good. Thanks for the replies :)

As a side note.. I've read a lot about alcohol vapor stripping toxins out of silicone, what's every bodies thoughts on that?

If it has enough pressure just a loose seal should do when clamped in, we don't glue our silicon seals on our flanges ;-)

I don't know if it is glued in, I certainly didnt glue it in.. It's how it came when I bought it. None the less it's well stuck in place.

The silicon seal on the lid is not glues in, just wiggle it out. If you damage it you can get a new seal from most HBS that sell the turbo system. ie - One stop bar show, brew craft, ebay etc etc. The seals themselves are only $9.00 - $11.00 and when you replace it, they actually set in the groove at a 45 degree angle. ethanol doesn't strip any toxins from 100% silicon materials
