So the T500 is flimsy but can handle the weight of my 1.5m packed column below. but if i dont do it up tight on the lid it can sometimes leak a few drops of boiler crap. used to do this occasionally with the original T500 too.

I want to cut the column maybe 2" above the lid (higher) and make a flange. And i was thinking of removing all seals and fluxing it all and filling it with solder in the join, T500 nut and all, so solder the nut, lid and bottom 2" column/flange.

Just wondering if anyone has had a lid like this too, leak a little in the run from the shitty T500 connection 8-}

and if anyone has any advice on the lid soldering it would be greatly appreciated. I have done copper to stainless with success before. it will be soft solder and ill prob use a shitload of solder :D

the lid and slow leak of what taste like whats in the boiler. charge was 22L of about 9%

[edit] i should add, i use an extra 2" 5SD silicon seal on the T500 lid join :-D

on the boiler after i took first photo i saw this forming around the evaporated wash/distillate(?) on the lid

on another note I just finished the run and saw this on my funnel. i use a glass one in the end of my parrot to collect, fits in the 1/2". there is a greeny blue thing on the inside of the funnel. prob the level line of the parrot?? looks like that green oxodised copper stuff?? maybe i should citric acid the parrot more? :think:

I've never had mine leak there. Did it leak before adding the extra seal.
Have a look at the oring if has any flat surfaces. It should be round sectionaly.
With the green crud I've had it and put it down to the copper needing a clean :think:

thats what i thought with the green stuff. the lid however seems hit n miss with the new seal. worked first few times and last 2 had small elaks, has the oring seal too and the new one and it seemed sturdier with the extra weight..
it did this a few times as the original T500 too so its not an isolated incident with this one :angry-banghead:
Ill just try to get by until i make it all one

You can get those T500 lids for about $10 with no hole in them and then drill it and weld on an adapter. It will be more solid.

Were from? Thinking about getting stock pots same diameter to use for fermenters..
