A car, a wall, a 1m piece of cleaned plastic sewer/storm water pipe, 4mm drill bit, a sheet of plastic, one cut down end cap, 1m x 40mm timber for plunger and twenty minutes = press.

say $25 all up.

Plunger to tow ball, end to wall, plastic underneath sloping to collection bucket, reverse gear in an auto, watch the juice flow.

Geez if you got nashi's laid on ...do good by them.. a truly inspiring fruit and taste if there ever was one.

Have a crack!

I use a modified paint stirrer with a couple of bits ground off it on a 550 watt drill, it's like a giant bamix :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Place pears/apples in drum, just cover with water and then drill the shit out of em for 5 minutes until you have a puree of sorts, add some water to the mix and then sugar until your SG is around 1070 to 1080

Dont use bakers yeast though :violence-smack:

Use a wine or champagne yeast like EC1118 and ferment in a cooler area if possible, it might take a few weeks before the cap drops then you're ready to go :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers,

Mac.

With those nashis and pears you'll have a great base for an interesting version of Calvados. Just make sure you use French oak dominoes for aging. American oak is way too strong for the subtleties of the final spirit that you'll get. :-B

Using Baker's yeast would be a real shame mate, and a waste of good produce...

Got any home brew shops near you? Most of them will carry wine yeast in small packets :handgestures-thumbupleft:
