Here's our new carbon filter.
The 4" x 400mm Head will hold around 2.9L of Liquid, but being modular we can always add an extra 4" pipe section for more capacity.
At the base we have a 3/8th inch Needle Valve for nice fine control.
And the 600mm x 1" Upright will hold more than enough Carbon to filter whatever you need. In Standard form as seen here the cost is $225 plus postage.

before you put the carbon into the filter chamber, rinse it through a sieve in the sink as it has a shit load of fine black dust that will come through in your first to tenth runs

can't tell you that as I have only used it once, need to get someone from the forum that has more experience to answer your question

can tell you though, yesterday I had some pear infused neutral I ran through the carbon filter and ran some through a coffee filter paper
coffee filter paper came clean as, carbon was still murky

Most will filter at around 45%
Change the carbon when it stops doing its job, that will depend on how much your filtering, I used to change every 15-20L
And yes as Harold said, wash the carbon before use will help.
if my 82 year old mum can do it, anybody can :laughing-rolling:

sorry for the late reply, ran the flagon through the carbon filter and ran the jar through a coffee paper filter which takes an eon to filter
