That copper mesh in the bottom to save the alcometer is a great idea :handgestures-thumbupleft: so some SS mesh is going in mine as my standalone parrot is copper

I only learnt the trick of mesh in parrot after I broke TWO alcometers.

Awesome piece of kit. I swear by mine! Just make sure you lower gently (rather than drop) your hydrometer into it. It is not very forgiving :))
You can also wait until there is some liquid in the bottom of the parrot as a buffer.
Edit: Just saw the wire mesh post. I am going to give that a whirl!
