Anyone know of a place to source a 3000w+ 220v-240v SCR in Australia or even more specifically Melbourne. I have this trust issue with Chinese suppliers on eBay, not so much quality but more or less them actually getting items into Australia and I was hoping to get one by this weekend if possible

You could try Radio Spares, they are fairly quick with delivery but you'll pay a premium.
Cheers,
Prof Green.

Way back when I worked in the electronics industry many years ago, rs-australia were known as radio spares.
Cheers,

Are you after the voltage controlled model or the pot adjusted model ?
You could get both models sent from china for half the price you pay for one here. ;-)
And if you use paypal you can get a refund if you don't receive the item.

Type C i bought from ebay 4000w rating running a 3600w element it lasted all over 20minutes and blew the fuse and holder to pieces and tripped my rcd lol. With these i do believe you get what you pay for to a great extent. I bought from diff supplier a 10000w rating and havent had a problem yet. U can find all of these from aus suppliers on ebay but they are exactly the same product so the question is who do you trust...

Yeah a 3.6kw element on a 4000w controller won't last too long. :))

Thanks guys for all the link ups. I am after a POT controller but not only asking for Aus supplier for dependability reasons, also for time efficiency reasons....see I have this tiny little issue, well so the wife tells me, and that's called impatience....I tend to step in with my stubbornness issue and tell her I disagree with my accussed impatience issue :scared-eek:
I was hoping for something to come across my lap for this weekend, but looks like I am going to do a bit of Chinese/Hong Kong shopping it seems

Impatience be buggered I ordered a cable tie tool from our local jay car store it took 3 weeks to get here
I also ordered a temp controller for my fridge from china it was here in 5 days
Button battery's local $5 to $7 each You can land 50 here from china for $7 even if 1/2 don't work you are still miles ahead
