Question should i hook it up so i plug both elements in to the 1 plug, ie will these components handle 2 x 2400w elements?

No worries, i couldn't see a need to have the 2 connected anyway.
What i'm thinking ill do is have the 2 plug into the box and run 1 straight through with an on/off switch and 1 with the voltage controller side.

That's a good idea, Hill. Wish I'd thought of it when I was making mine. Running 2 extension cords is a bit annoying.

We all need to remember that electricity is serious business, and that in general most homes only have 10amp outlets that will only handle about 2400w. A standard 15amp outlet will only take 3600w.

You are 100% correct McStill.

Some newer homes (and even mine which isn't so new) have 20A circuit breakers on the switchboard as the circuit breaker is there to prevent the 2.5mm Cu cable becoming overloaded, and it is rated for that. However, your normal powerpoint is rated to 10A Maximum. Overload that and you will start burning out the connections on the powerpoint and possibly stress all the connections to that point. It is just not worth it, especially if it starts a fire and insurance finds that you might have knowingly overloaded the powerpoint.

If you want a higher rating, some have used multiple elements on different circuits, but most people aren't that lucky to have two circuits close to where they are going to still. If you are truly serious about higher power usage, please get an authorised sparky in and get a dedicated circuit wired in. He will know what is required, and so long as you get one with an established name, they will not be able to afford to screw you over.

Building a boiler controller, I have just ordered a 25A Solid State Relay with aluminum heat sink input control method is 470-560k ohm. 26-380 Volt,

I need a to match a Type B linear 3 pin potentiometer for the relay,
