Thanks mate,

Honestly, do yourself a favour, silfos it :)

No really it is not to bad once you get the knack, I had some issues with the other end and have had to cut the plate off and prep another one.

It is to do with the height of the copper above the stainless plate, but I think I have it pretty sorted now.

I can't wait to get this out of the way,

I'll do a 4 inch stainless bubbler next, stainless swept t's as modules, containing a copper internal.

I hate, I am just doing the finishing touches on this one, haven't even put a flame to it and am bored with it and am working at this new one.

I am going to try source everything here in NZ, no offense, and, if I need to get something from across the ditch *cough cough cough saying something very complimentary of course*

Anyways, I have done a fair bit of reading up on it lately and have a vague idea of where to go next, look, it won't be groundbreaking, but it sure will be modular as I can make it :)

I got a mate that may hook me up with a couple of 600lt s/s ex brewing vats, then I believe, the fun could really begin :)

Anyways, I shall keep you informed.

Well, I am off to get some gas and some vinegar today, so I can run a cleaning.

There is some sacrificial alcohol someplace, then I have 20 liters of rum low wines to kick through it.

Should be good to see how it performs :)

Cleaning run = sweet. No leaks and it is blowing like puff the manic dragon.

As opposed to Puff the Magic Dragon, I suppose.

Right, for the sacrificial alcohol, I'll give it a clean and set her on fire.

I have not the plumbing to test the psuedo-refluximatorer just at the moment, but because it is not a stripping run, who cares?

So it seems all is well in the psychedelic land of aliced......

So you're not going to condense the vapour from the sacrificial alcohol run? Alarm bells...

The pre condenser mate, if you have a look you will see I have one in the column for stripping runs.

Jumped the gun a bit there I think pal.

Certainly did... Sorry man, as you were!

Not sure why you want reflux on a strip run though?

I am sure I am not on HD.

Errrr, because I can Zak, pure and simple. I would explain it but judging by your attitude thus far you would nit pick that in a way that seems less than constructive as well.

This running like a dream, the PC seems to knock down anything I can throw at it.

So all in all I call this a successful build.

Can't wait to run this rum :)

I'm asking because I want to learn, not because I think I already know. This is why I apologised when you explained where I went wrong with the first question (which I only asked because I (wrongly, it turns out) thought you were about to fill your shed with ethanol vapour.).

I was of the impression that a stripping run should be done as hard and fast as possible. This, as far I can ascertain, would mean that you want as little reflux as possible. If you would care to share your thoughts and theories on running a reflux condenser on a stripping run, I think I might learn something, and become a better distiller and person because of it.

Accepted Zak, thank you for the clarification.

I had an 80 litre keg with an indented top that held about one litre of water that I used to run. I found that if I filled this recess on a run, in order to create a little reflux, my product after the spirit run tasted more refined than if I left no water in the recess.

So I thought that on this build I would use the same idea and compare using it to not using it.

I have two 40 litre sugar washes that are exactly the same and so will compare them using this theory.

Hope that clears it up for you :)

Furthermore I have learned, if anyone were thinking of trying it, that, the following mix tastes like goat piss;

Whiskey heads,
Rum, from a dude that made top notch methylated chunder
Feijoa wine
Brandy, from one of those mix packets from a HBS
And a bottle of something that I could not quite identify, possibly horse urine?

I have just extensively sampled said concoction and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

Mate, I know I'm a bit late to chime in here...... as it now seems to have been resolved.
