Ok Ezi,
I didn't bother with the finer details for making this new PC as 99% has been covered before but since you learnt a new word today :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: here is how I made em.

flat frustum.jpg

Now after drawing out the frustum using the technique shown on this forum one transfers it onto some flat copper that used to be 1-1/2" pipe.

Then one anneals the copper and gently tap it around a former, now I just use a carrot wedge to get the bulk of the forming done and to get it nice and round place in some pipe and gently tap it and it soon come round. Go harder than a tap then head back to step one as you stuffed it up :laughing-rolling:

Now when the ends meet just heat em up and silver solder them

Now as one generally uses tin snips to cut out the copper it is a good idea to file the edge where it is to be soldered and if a second anneal is needed due to work hardening the copper remember to file those edges again so they are nice and clean for the soldering.

There ya go mate easy as to make so now you've learnt something new lets see ya first effort :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Cheers Bryan

Edit damn smart phones pay a heap of cash for one and the pic's are crap. May have get my daughter to take the next one's :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Turn the flash on and use both hands to steady it, preferably brace yourself against something

Lotsa megapixies means blurrier shots lols

You def got some soldering skills Bryan :handgestures-thumbupleft:

G'Day Guy's,
Well finally got test out this new PC with some lowwines I had of the applecider I stripped the last time I ran this still and only had 700ml so topped it up with some 90%. I put the 700ml in 1 litre measuring glass and just chucked 300ml of the 90%. Checked the ABV and 65% :scared-eek: . Now as I had some headroom in the boiler added 250ml of water leaving about a inch of headroom. Cut up a pink lady apple and threw that in the thumper with some 40% neutral.

Now the new cooling setup uses the pump I got from the HB for my failed AG project. Filled the cube with fresh rain water and at 8C :happy-partydance: lets see how much the temp rises with a run. I got a couple of 3/8" by 1/2" bsp hose barbs and should of gotten a 3/8 and a 1/4 inch one :angry-banghead: O'well as the 1/4" tube is a snug fit with 3/8"tube just made a 10" section of the 3/8" tube and stuck in. Well of course it leaked so just grabbed some 1.6mm copper wire wrapped it around twice and used my pliers to make the clamp. I find using the copper for sealing tube much better than using hose clamps as they really are single use item. If you need to break the clamp just use a pair of side cutters.

Ok back to this apple cider run I find even with the lowest flame thru the run it did spew a couple of time as the thumper sound was nice to hear again. Ended up taking a litre from the run and the last 250ml sure was the tails coming on.

I do think this apple brandy needs scaling up this has become my personal favorite and others that taste are just blown away and ask to buy a bottle. I tell them everytime what I is is a hobby and selling isn't an option.

My missus finally bought 2 cider apple trees a orange pipin and a wayford cider trees and I have said let the cloning begin, she asked how many and said 250 of them :laughing-rolling: as to scale this one up needs trees and if you like the cider so much we need more apples as my apple brandy is coming first :laughing-rolling:

Now when i was in town this morning I grabbed a 5 litre coolabah red to mull with a fresh orange, i mull this for about 2 hours making sure it doesn't go over 70C so the alc doesn't boil away. The last time I made this I gave the wife a bottle to show her friends and she came home and said your in the MT Pleasant show and expect a gold medal but due to covid-19 the show was cancelled. O'well time to make more as it does take a few months to age :laughing-rolling: I do the striprun my 5 litre pot still and the spirit run in my minime then onto French oak for a few months.

Cheers Bryan
