Isolation is a terrible thing, I got so bored that I rummaged through the shed and found a piece of 2" copper the same length as my T500 colum. My question is, is the height of a pot still column from the top of the still to the elbow important, can it be any length, or should it be as short as possible, or is there an optimum length. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.

I dont think height really matters on a 2" other opinions might vary. Mine was only about 100mm high before turning and going into pc.

You will get a little bit of passive reflux if you have any sort of height to your pot. Not necessarily a bad thing. Have a look through some of the other DIY builds in this section for some ideas on sizes.
