FSD pot still has arrived at home

Postby HillsJester » Tue Nov 19, 2013 1:21 pm

Just got a message from the wife that the posty has delivered my new toy, can't wait to get home!!
Just need to take the keg down to my SS welder to fit the element and viewport and then action time...

Thanks to Mac and FSD, couldn't be happier with the service and price and am sure will be even happier when I see her tonight.

Love the shiny new stainless

Hope your welder does quick work you will want to do the maiden run without delay, hope you have something good to run though it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yep the bourbon will go well through it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Reckon you could have got some mesh from FSD, otherwise any clean pure copper wire you can find will do.

Looking good there, glad it all turned up in good order.

The copper mesh could be a while off hitting the store again, I'm trying to source some nicer gear at a better price.... I will find it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I had trouble sourcing copper mesh to replace the stainless packing in my father's T500 still

You can buy it by the pound in the US but the postage is a killer

Most of the local "copper scourers" are copper plated steel

I tried making copper swarf in the lathe but copper is a bitch to turn and the product was not a success

I ended up buying 5 packets of two scourers from: http://www.todae.com.au/redeckercopperscourer a few weeks ago

The current price is for a single but I paid that amount for a pair

It took 5 scourers to fill the column

I'm not sure how that price compares to what everyone else is buying but it was miles ahead of the US product landed here

No plates, just straight pot for stripping run. Plates to come when cash is better post Xmas.

It's alive!!!
Crystal clear and looking good.
If you are thinking of buying anything from 5 star distilling, just do it!
You won't be disappointed.

That's a huge benefit to a modular still, add as you can make or afford it.
