First stripping run with new Pot still.

Postby luke777 » Wed Nov 20, 2013 9:21 pm

All going really well so far! :handgestures-thumbupleft:

First Tomato paste wash produced well, racked it off and stripped it down with the Pot still I just made up. Used the new parrot, worked really well I think:

striprun001.jpg

Pulled 11 litres of crystal clear low wines off 50 litres. When all combined the ABV is 52%
I think this sounds about right for yield. :-B

I have another wash fermenting now and plan on doing the same, all going according to plan that is.

Might even be able to fit three stripped and diluted washes into the 50 litre keg for a final spirit run. We will see.

So stoked with the new (to me) concept of stripping runs.
I am going to start looking into trying a molasses wash and pot still rum but I'ma long way off being that savvy yet.

In the mean time I have a new element on the way and my brother (electrician) will be wiring it up for me. The weldless one I have has shit itself. Going to weld in a flange and do it right this time.

Cant thank you all enough for the help and tips and support. You are a top bunch and worth more money.

Will keep ya all posted.

Luke

Hello luke777

That’s dedication, racking a TPW before distilling. I did that with the HBS turbo 9 kg washes.
I’m happy with the tried & proven section now but know where your coming from.
Keep up the good work mate. Cheers :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yield sounds about right to me mate.

You would probably almost get away with 4 lots stripped then watered back for your spirit run. You have no chance of puking, just as long as you have a bit of headspace to prevent it flooding :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah it will be excellent. The only problem I foresee is not having enough glass to catch it all in when I get to my spirit run!! Better start collecting some more jars and bottles and whatever I can find. Because Its going to be my first non-turbo run I really want to separate my product into small increments to help learn about cuts.

I will need a LOT of glass...

First world problem or what!!?? :laughing-rolling:

Coles or wollies sell jam jars for $1.99 each or go to the cheap shop and look for some cheap glasses or collect in clean beer bottles 1ctn = 24 collection jars :D
