Whisky with pot still

Postby Domiz » Sun Mar 16, 2014 11:34 pm

Hi every one I'm new of this forum and I want to know how I can do a good single malt whisky, so I tried to do it with a single pass in my Keg pot still but with a single pass I have a product with too much flavour, so I want to know if it's better to do multiple low wines run and reunion the products for another pass in the still and only now do the cuts and aging.
Sorry for my bad English, but can someone confirm if the process is exact? Thanks a lot

Yes, I think I agree with what you're saying.

For a single malt whisky in a pot still, do several stripping runs (hard and fast), then add them together for a final spirit run where you make your cuts :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yes, best way for a whiskey is double distilling using a pot still.

Run the still, generally on a high heat, known as a stripping run. Collect until you get down to 20% on each run. If needed, mix the low wines with water to get 40% or under.
Once you have enough low wines to fill your boiler run it on a low heat, taking cuts.
Air for 2 days and keep the hearts. Heads and Tails can be kept as a start of the next batch of low wines.
