4" stripper

Postby Kimbo » Mon Aug 29, 2011 8:46 pm

I finished building my 4" stripper with a shotgun condenser,
the thing ran at about 4L/h.
i was hoping it would be a little quicker (5-6)
maybe it need more power chucked at it? 8-)
I'll post some pics when i clean it up.

Yeah I can run my 4 burners flat out on my 4" stripper without the distillate getting hot, she fairly pisses out but havnt measured the take off rate.

Id say more heat to Kimbo, I was disappointed with the amount my 2 1/2 inch stripper was putting out initially, Cleaned out all the holes in my burner, gave the jets a clean too....then blew it all out with compressed air. Made a ton of difference.

Put another element (or two  ) in it, or go gas - a 3-ring burner puts out about 10,500W at full throttle, and a 4-ring burner about 15,000W

I got nearly 6L/hr out of my 2" stripper with a 3-ring burner.

I use a 3 ring burner. I get 6l/h out of my 2" pot while stripping. I got 10l/h out of JDonly1's 4" rig when i built it on the same setting..

I now have a high pressure regulator attached to the 3 ring burner and i'm getting 10l/hour out of my 2" rig, christ knows what the stripper would achieve :o

How'd you go with the shotgun, they can be a bitch hey?

Did you go 1/2 or 3/8 tubes in the shotgun?

On mine I put 7 x 3/8 tubes in it and it worked great, but now I'm just using 4 x 1/2 for the shotguns on my bubblers.

I used 5x 1/2" tubes inside a 50mm pipe,
it was a bit tricky but seems to work well.

Yeah I was concerned with the 1st one I built with 1/2 inch tubes, but I reckon I could throw massive amounts of heat at it without any drama at all.

You run this thing with more heat yet?

I reckon with a 4 ring gas burner flat out you'll get over 10 liters an hour  your going to want a bigger boiler

Not yet,
i was looking at the 4 ring burners on the weekend, the problem is that i reckon it will empty my 9kg gas bottle quicker than i can blink!
and there is nothing similar that works on natural gas
i have a 2 ring burner that will have to suffice till i come up with a better idea
