My first build Pot Still

Postby jacobraven » Tue Jun 23, 2015 3:32 pm

So im building a 2 inch pot still with a 700mm liebig condenser. Got my first weld done today after cutting most of it up. Just waiting on a 2 inch ferrule , adapter nut to 2inch ferrule for 25 litre boiler not the t500 and old all stainless one with 2000w element. Will get a keg soon. Got parts on order for a voltage regulator. :) any criticism welcome. :text-thankyoublue:

Using aquasafe solder with bakers flux going well for first time i can see the solder on the inside of the pipe so it seems to be going right.

The liebig is 700mm 3/4 to 1/2 internal is this enough.

Looks good mate not sure but im gunna guess by the solder position that you directing heat where the pipe meets the fitting if you place the heat on the coupler of the elbow the solder will be sucked into the join by capillary action and your join will look schmick and be nice and strong :handgestures-thumbupleft:

With your condensor mate the length should be fine just put a heap of dints on the internal pipe to create turbulance in the vapour and water for better cooling

on the lil one i just made for my boka i put dints a inch apart on 4 sides of the pipe.with the dints 90deg from the first lot i moved them down 1/2 a inch and so on

Happy stillin

Just been using my first pot still in anger and getting 3.5lt p/hr stripping and using .5lt p/min water off a 2000 element.
Look out a 50lt boiler built is a in the near future. Pick up 2 50lt kegs tomorrow night 1 for a boiler and the for low vines storage
