Hi guys finally getting the stuff together to build my copper pot still. I'm going for a 2 inch with the colum being 750mm to the top of the 90 degree elbow then about 200mm into a 45 degree 2inch bend then about 200mm into a 2inch to one inch reducer for my leibeig which will have a 1 inch core with a 2inch outer that will be 750mm long.
Does this sound like a good direction to go, haven't ordered anything yet just trying to nut out a design first. It will be mounted on top of a 50l keg with one of macs weld less 2200 wat elements.

If you're going to use a 2" outer for your condenser, why not build a shotgun? :think:

:text-+1: if you put 4 x 1/2" tubes you'll get so much vapour to copper contact, it'll condense any amount of vapour. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Or cut the leiberg down to inch over 3/4 700mm long cooling jacket. But if you want to give the shotgun a try go for it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

A 2inch pot with 2 shotty will future proof any further builds if you esay flange it.
Also if you go for a second element for stripping it will easly handle it.
Why build a mini if you can build a Ferrari :think:

The only reason I'm going for a Liebieg is I have never soldered before and want I want to try something simple just to get use to it. If a two inch over one inch at 750 mm long is too big ill go for a inch over 3/4 that's 750mm long.

My 2" Shotgun was the first soldering I had ever done... It's no harder than making a leibig.

It will also mean you don't have to build another condenser when you build a bubbler :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If I do a shotgun condenser will I still need a voltage controller or will the condenser handle the element at full power? Also is there a soldering tutorial I can read/watch tried looking on here but had trouble driving my phone today.

The idea of the voltage controller (used just on spirit run)is to slow the output for cleaner seperation of the alcohol into foreshots/ head/ hearts /tails and to prevent them smearing together giving poor quality final product, not because the condenser cant handle the amount of output. A shotgun will handle full power as will a leiberg condenser cheers :handgestures-thumbupleft:

So its been a smidge over a year since I started to organize my still and I'm nearly ready to start building lol. But that's life I suppose full of unexpected shit.
Anyway here is a pic of my 2inch with the start of my easy flange, all feedback is appreciated. Decided to go 350mm out of the keg though then 2inch 90 bend, a 200mm long piece of 2inch I to another 90 anlged downward then into a 2- 3/4 inch reducer with a 1 inch over 3/4 liebieg 750mm long.

what are you joining on to? keg or t500 adapter?

in that 200mm 2" lyn arm you could make a clamp there so each time you setup the collection angle is set to what you want

Didn't even think of that WT. Just easy flange both ends and use an endless gasket (the pfte tape wrapped around cardboard one ) and 2inch tri clamp?

You could also use the reducer before the second elbow, and use a 3/4" elbow instead of 2"...

Got my copper cut today 400mm long column. 250mm long lyne arm, 200mm long tube into a 11/4,over 3/4 750mm long liebieg. Now to get my reducers and elbows during the week.

You can save yourself a couple of $ and put the 2"-1" reducer before the elbows, and use a 1" lyne arm :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I thought about that Zac but I decided to go with this design as I can use all the copper bits in my shed and I only have to buy the reducers and bends.

As mentioned earlier, an easy flange on the lyne arm will let you set your collection height at whatever you want, certainly necessary though. You'll also be able to pack the still up and hide it on a smaller spot if you need to ;-)
