Air still pro user cuts

Hey all
I made a good tpw wash , 14 days very clear light yellow after racking
I tossed the first 200ml into feints jar , used the next 450-500ml as hearts , 60-80ml tails
120ml jars not all full as I got closer to heads , to be h9nest it all smelled a bit acetony but I’m new and really don’t know what a great wash hearts smell like
I’m thinking I would use that 100ml from 200 - 300 as my neutral to fortify my port as that tastes good at 21%
Keep the next as my hearts for bourbon etc
I ended up orking my bourbon for nine days at 65% then diluted three days ago to 37% , added half a bottle of essence , tastes good with coke and ice but straight it’s pretty harsh
Didn’t filter I was trying to get away without doing it , simply more cost , im leaning towards I have to filter , my mate has a filter the 8 litre one so I think I’ll just buy some and filter at his joint

I’ve also tried another wash as some say the low and bakers yeast can be acetony I fermented it at 27 degrees controlled ,
This one I’ve tried the ec1118 with boiled Logan’s bakers yeast as the nutrient , running it slow and controlled at 20 degrees , been fermenting now for 16 days which really doesn’t worry me if it takes three to four weeks to ferment and clear I only want to distill every few months

If I was filtering would I keep more of the first 2-300ml

Egosbar you are really up against it mate trying to do cuts on such a small run, no matter the still brand.
I do spirit runs of 50 litres and take 300 ml cuts to choose from, for you to achieve the same on a 5 litre run you would need to be taking 30 ml cuts which simply is not practical. Once you do your research and make your choices your cuts will get so much easier. It is ironic that we all had to learn on the hardest stuff to make cuts with.

Yep exactly , but you would think that taking 30 ml fore shots , 200ml heads 100ml for port fortification as that was fine or Sambuca also fine , 300ml hearts , can’t do much else , I’ll filter if I have to should clean it up , bourbon tastes fine on coke , did only add 4ml glycerine so that may settle after four days now

Heads hearts and tails cuts do not happen at the same place every run. Re read the cuts section as I think you have misunderstood. Taking 30 ml cuts is taking 30 cuts of 30 ml then tasting to see where heads end and hearts start then moving on to find the tails. Just picking a number and saying that is where hearts will start does not always work. As I said with such small volumes you are really up against it.

I used to collect a 100ml per jar for the whole run till definate tails were there,there were around 13-17 jars lined up leave over night or longer start in middle and work outward 1 by one till I got to stuff I didn’t like the taste of,
