Hi there,

Almost ready to run my just completed 3"CCVM and I'm looking for a way to stop it tipping over if it gets knocked.
The column is almost 2m tall, plus the keg it sits on. When I clamped it all together last night it was so tall I realised I'll have to move it away from the walls and into the middle of the shed under the ridge for clearance.
I was thinking of suspending a light chain from the rafters and hooking it to the column, possibly between the tee and the 90degree bend. I hope this won't generate an annoying rattle during the run!

Anyone have any neat solutions?

You may be able find a suitable pipe hanger from a dairy supplier..

It's called "Jack chain" used to hang industrial lights off the roof in warehouses.
Should be available from Bunnings by the meter.

Your not looking to lift the column with it just stop lateral movement and stop it tipping.

If it's starts to rattle just add an elastic band to take up the slack.

I picked up some machine chain from Bunnings.
Had a look at the jack chain but the label said it had a max load of 10kg!

I got an EPDM tie down strap to loop around the still and hook on the chain.
It’s a bit stretchy so I hope that will dampen any rocking.
