New T500

Postby pomtony » Mon Dec 14, 2020 5:00 pm

New to T500.
Present method,
Tpw , stripped with air still to 1.5 litre.
Collected and sodium carbonate added then run again through air still.
100mls discarded, 500mls saved, remaining discarded.
Diluted then filtered.
This method provides me with a nice drop with which to flavour.

Now purchased a T500.
Ran 25l tpw through today and did 200ml cuts.
Obtained almost 2.8l @50degrees outlet temp.
I see 3 options,
keep the nice cuts ,dilute ,filter , flavour then drink.
Put all cuts together, dilute, sodium carbonate, run through T500 again.
Put cuts together, dilute, sodium carbonate, run through air still.

Thoughts please
Quality before quantity
Cheers

If you’ve done your cuts correctly you don’t need to filter and you most certainly do not need sodium carbonate

whats does adding the sodium carbonate do?
i didn't think you needed to filter TPW, that sounds like a turbo wash method.

oh, i see stig's beaten me to it

Only thing I’ve ever filtered is a turbo wash and it still tasted like puke

Personally I think it’s lazy .
And most that did use it way back when are no longer around .
Each to their own but there is no substitute for good practices
