New 2" CCVM

Postby silverbean » Thu Jan 28, 2021 8:17 pm

Finally got all the bits together and put together my new 2 inch CCVM using some stainless from www.5stardistilling.com.au a 3 foot length of 2inch copper I was given, a new 1 metre half over three quarter Liebig, went a bit crazy with the RC as I had some 5/16 copper that was a bitch to bend tight for a double helix so got a bit creative and made something unconventional. I made the tails too short and it wouldn't sit low enough in the column and ended up extending them 80mm with some half inch. Doesn't look pretty but no leaks and does the job. All this will sit on a new 30 liter 2300 watt boiler. Don't have photos of it all together on the boiler but I will put some up of all the bits,

So far I'm happy with how its coming along, all silver soldered using a butane torch.

That is the word on th street wgich is the motivationfor heading down this track, whiskey is the goal and being able to recycle some heads and tails better. a couple more cleaning runs then plan to have some fun leaning the ropes.

The green shed sell packs of large SS scrubbies that fit perfect inside a 2in column, just give them a bit of a 'sausage'and push them in with a stick. 1 pack will do you for a 3ft column, not too tight
