Hi Stig,

I normally add 30 flowers to the litre of gin. You will see the colour change occur quickly. Just strain the flowers out when you achieve the desired tint. (I normally leave them in for about an hour)

I think I added about 20 flowers and left in 4 at least 24 hours, maybe 36. Brilliant blue colour that is still there months later. Next time I did it with only half the amount and half the time and the colour faded quite a hut.

I put down a 4L batch this morning using double your ingredients, except the lemon myrtle after your comments on its bitterness. I will let it sit for a few days then run it through the pot.

Are the blue flowers for colour only or flavour too ?

Stig loves the look the blue flowers give it. It reminds him of when he was poor and kero was his drink of choice, of course for special occasions he did used to chill it :laughing-rolling:

Apologies BigRig I side tracked stig.

The answer is yes the flowers Stig was using was for colour only.

Did my first run of Odin's today, dam can I join the chorus of " this is not going to make it to 5 weeks "

I better get some more vodka done before the heat goes away so i can then do experiments over Winter

Ran this through the pot tonight and the juniper smell disappears very quickly then the lemon myrtle smell takes over the remainder of the run. I am soo hoping it isnt a bitter mouthful of shit and actually resembles gin.

I haven't tasted or checked abv. Will give it 24hrs air time before checking tomorrow.

From the 4L i threw 20mls then took off 1.5L.

You still did cuts right?

yep did roughly 100ml cuts which are airing at the moment. no tasting or %ABV taken as yet.

smells were straight off the still-

1-2 Strong juniper
3-5 juniper / slight citrus
6-8 strong citrus
9-15 citrus / herbs / something else
16 bitter AF so stopped run.

Smelled better this morning, will have a little play tonight.

After smelling and tasting i kept jars 1-14 and have a nice gin @ 76%. I will let it have another rest before diluting in the morning to 43%. I am very happy with my TPW gin.

Newbie playing with an Airstill. I don’t want prepackaged gin botanical kits like still spirits. Can anyone please give me some sources to buy individual botanicals for gin. Thank you

I put down a 30L maceration today, i will let it sit for 6 days then run it next friday. I dont think the maceration will be too long.
