Calamansi or kumquats - how to add

Hello everyone,
just wondering the best way to add calamansi into a gin.
I'll start with an Odins Easy with 2/3 of the Juniper load.
I'm leaning towards pricking the whole fruit then macerate for 48 hrs as per Odins (the whole lot in the pot).
Any feedback on this method?
