Hi folks,
After browsing the boards for a few days, I think I'm pretty clear on the board's views about turbo yeast, but I have a question that doesn't appear to have been covered yet...
Is the propaganda for Pure Distilling's "Premium Spirit Yeast" complete bs? Here's an example:
https://www.triplejhomebrew.com.au/pure ... yeast.html
It talks about making a heavily sugared sugar wash of about a 1:2.6 ratio when 1:4 is more typical, and resulting in a yield of up to 10L of spirit from an initial 21L wash. What the hell? Is this yeast bionic?
I thought the maximum alcohol % before yeast died was in the order of 10%, or perhaps upwards of 18% for champagne yeast.
Can a turbo yeast that can survive in such an environment produce anything like a "high quality spirit"??
Appreciate your thoughts.
